Pilgrimage to the
Lands of Dominic - 1985

On the road again by 9 a.m. - destination: Bologna. The "in
via" part (traveling) is integral with the pilgrimage. As we spend hours
in our comfortable bus, I think of Dominic and the early Friars who
walked this distance.
It strikes me how different the French, Spanish and
Italians are, even though they live next door to each other. What must
it have been like for some of them who emigrated to North America. Seems
to me that any pilgrimage is an exercise in trust and faith.
10:50 a.m. - In Genova.
5:15 p.m. - Arrived in Bologna in heat and noise to
stay at Four Star Hotel. Italian hotels seem to have "Class"...an "Old
World" charm. On the way into the hotel, Ann asked me to preach on
Monday in Siena. I feel overwhelmed - who deserves such blessings!
