General Intercessions

for Divine Mercy Sunday

(Second Sunday of Easter)

April 7, 2024

Presider: Receive the joy of your glory, giving thanks to God, who has called you into the heavenly kingdom, alleluia! With faith in the Resurrected Lord, let us offer our petitions to God.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”

1. That Pope Francis, Bishop ________, clergy, and the faithful apply the mystery of Divine Mercy as they work to build up the Mystical Body of Christ, we pray...

2. That the glory of the ministry, passion, death, and Resurrection of the Lord move the hearts of those seeking truth, we pray...

3. That the Lord’s greeting of peace in the upper room touch the hearts of those who are troubled and lead them to reconciliation by the power of Divine Mercy, we pray...

4. That our suffering and joy be mingled with the fruits of labor offered as sacrifice to be consecrated by the Spirit in truth and love, we pray...

5. That the mystery of shared Communion heal individual and communal brokenness, nourish spirits, and unify all as a community of faithful, we pray...

6. That those on the margins of society and all the faithful benefit from the work of those whose role is education, health care, safety, and security. May their work bring justice and peace to the Community, we pray...

7. For personal needs of each in this assembly; that the Lord will ease pains and anxieties and, through our challenges, teach us to share in the suffering and the final victory of Jesus’ resurrection. Let us pause for a moment speaking in silence to the Risen Lord      (pause)    we pray...

Presider: Thomas encountering the Risen Lord understood the truth of Jesus. May God known through His Divine Mercy reveal the truth of the Risen Lord. In that truth, may we experience God’s gift of mercy and compassion. May today’s antiphon for the responsorial psalm remain in our heads and our hearts.  “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love is everlasting.”

Response: Amen.

  "Blessings on your preaching."
